Tristan N. Johnson, 21, of Dover, took his own life Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003.
Tristan was diagnosed with schizophrenia, the symptoms of which he began exhibiting in his mid-teens. He did the best that he could with the illness that he had and the demands that life placed upon him. Tristan was a kind, loving soul, and a loyal friend. He had a good sense of humor, and a fondness for animals, especially for the family dogs Lucy and Abbe. Tristan enjoyed listening to music, which provided him with some relief from his illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1981, in Dover, Tristan was a son of Francis F. “Fritz” and Ruth Ann Welfley Johnson of 217 High St., Dover. He was a 2000 graduate of Dover High School, where he wrestled and played soccer. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, New Philadelphia
In addition to his parents, Tristan is survived by a brother, Nathan Q. Johnson, who, after serving a stint in the U.S. Air Force, is a student at Kent State University; several cousins, including a special cousin, Zack Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Wilma Johnson, and Paul and Florence Welfley.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at 2 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 North Wooster Ave., Dover. Cremation will follow the service.
