Valura M. Pierce

Valura M. Pierce, 84, of Beach City died Friday, July 17, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Born on December 15, 1924 in Langs, Ohio, Valura was the daughter of the late Carl and Lena Edgar McCaslin. She married her husband, Kenneth L. Pierce Sr. on April 9, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her brother, Robert McCaslin, a grandson, Nicholas Golemi, two nephews; Michael McCaslin and Michael Beauchemin.

Valura graduated in 1943 from Freeport High School, where she was a cheerleader. She attended Secretarial School in Dayton. She worked for many years in real estate in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a vivacious and energetic woman, who loved to spend her time square dancing, playing cards, painting and playing golf.

She was a member of the Beach City United Methodist Church and belonged to numerous women�(TM)s organizations including the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Pierce Jr. of Beach City; her daughter, Patricia (Anthony) Golemi of New Orleans; two grandsons, Michael (Alexandra) Golemi of Houston, Texas and Todd (Meredith) Golemi of New Orleans; her granddaughter, Jennifer (Elel) Oliveira of New Orleans; four great-grandchildren, Isabella and Dominic Golemi both of Texas, and Harrison and Collins Golemi both of New Orleans; two sisters, Erma Baker of Beach city, and Ila Beauchemin of California; her brother, Glenn McCaslin of Dundee; and her Great Uncle Carl Wade of Langs, Ohio as well as several nieces and nephews.


A celebration of Valura�(TM)s life will take place at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Orion Aubihl from the Beach City United Methodist Church officiating. A private burial will take place at Rock Hill Cemetery in Flushing, Ohio. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4-6pm.
