Verna Kuemerle Arnold

March 7, 1919 — May 22, 2016

Verna Arnold, 97, of Park Village and a lifelong resident of Dover passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2016 lovingly surrounded by her family. She had been a resident of Park Village for eight years.

She was born on March 7, 1919 in Dover, the daughter of the late George and Fannie (Bolton) Kuemerle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Walter W. Arnold who died Nov. 23, 1996 along with four sisters, Arvana Morrison, Ellen Border, Georgia Coe, and Blanche Brannen and a brother, Charles Kuemerle.

Verna was previously employed by the former Reeves Steel Company in Dover and enjoyed working in the summers at the former Becker Berry Farm.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover and enjoyed playing bridge with various bridge clubs. Family was very important to her. She will be remembered by her family for her loving care. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking as well crocheting her afghans.

She will be sadly missed by her three children, Darlene (Rod) Reese of New Philadelphia, Joel (Shirley) Arnold of Dover, and Debbie (Mike) Busch of Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Shea Reese, Ryan (Beth) Reese of Spring, Texas, Craig Arnold of Santa Cruz, California, Joelle (Ricky) Haley of Gunnison, Colorado, Greg Miller of Dover and Kevin and Erin Miller of Cranberry Township; great grandchildren, Katie Wilson of Clinton, S.C., and Barrett Reese of Spring, Texas and great great grandchildren, Levi Wilson and Hendrix Little of Clinton, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.

Verna's family would like to thank her niece, Mary Lou Miller for the special care and love given to her over the years.

Funeral services celebrating Verna's life will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 beginning at 10:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Donald Rice officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
