Verna M. Medley, 81, of the Hennis Care Centre and formerly of Lowdon St. NW, Dover, Ohio died Saturday, December 23, 2000 in the centre following an extended illness.
Born September 6, 1919 in Mineral City, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Florence Colton Abel.
Verna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover. She loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Medley who died Oct. 10, 1998.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Judy (Bill) Ruegsegger of Dover
Four grandchildren Robyn (Kevin) Greenwood of Dover; Chris (Meg) Ruegsegger of Dover; Dale (Yong) Ruegsegger of New Philadelphia; and Bill II (Tammy) Ruegsegger of Roswell.
Eight great grandchildren Christopher and Natasha Ruegsegger Tyler and Tanner Greenwood Vincent and Laura Ruegsegger and Bill III and Brittany Ruegsegger
Two sisters Betty Kirby of Massillon and Wanda Beatty of Dover
One Brother Henry Abel of Akron
She was preceded in death by two sons Russell Medley Jr. and James Medley and a sister, Anna Moore.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover. Interment will be in the Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
