Victor Altier, lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County who had most recently resided in Strasburg died Monday at Colonial Manor in New Philadelphia.
He retired from the former Reeves Steel Mill at Dover where he had worked for 40 years.
Born July 17, 1918 at Dover, he was the son of the late John & Mary Fiagolio Altier.
Vic was an avid sportsman and enjoyed being outdoors hunting or fishing. He also loved “running” his Beagles and was a member of the Buckeye Beagle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Altier.
Other survivors include: a brother; Anthony J. “Frip” (Margaret) Altier of Dover, a sister; Angeline (James) Persutti of Pinellas Park, FL, four step-children; Vicki Waldman of Zoar, Linda Smearman of Dover, Carol Smearman of Winfield and Floyd Smearman of Strasburg.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Vic was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and one-hour prior to services on Thursday.
