June 3, 1924 — June 27, 2010

Viola R. Vierheller, 86, of Dover, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Union Hospital.

She was born June 3, 1924, the daughter of the late Basilio & Benigna Pace Rondinella.

Over the years, Viola worked a variety of jobs. During World War II she was employed by the Timken Spark Plug Plant and later spent more than 15 years as a picker for US Ceramic Tile at East Sparta. Between living in Dover and time spent living in Florida, Viola also worked for a variety of food service companies. She attended St. Joseph School, and was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. She was a founding member of the 7th Street Tigers, and proud to have been the only female card-carrying member.

Her husband, Jacob "Jiggs" Vierheller, survives. The two would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on July 3.

Other surviving family members include: a daughter, Bonnie (David) Antonelli of Dover; and son, John (Eileen) Carruthers of New Philadelphia; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Anthony (Irene) Cercone, Vincent (Evelyn) Rondinella, and Theodore (Mary) Rondinella; brother-in-law, Reynold Casimir; and sister-in-law JoAnn Rondinella.

Also surviving are step-children, Donna (Cliff) Berentz, Robert Vierheller, Kay (Gary) Renner, Marla (Vern) McDonald, and Gary (Judy) Rankin; along with numerous step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Viola was also preceded in death by: siblings, Palmerino "Pam" & Antonette Cercone, Margaret & Frank Conidi, Erminia & Pete Monticelli, Umberto "Lou" Cercone, Ross Rondinella, and Clara Casimir, step-child Harry (Gloria) Holderman; and 3 step-grandchildren.

A funeral mass in celebration of Viola's life will be held Thursday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Dover. Fr. Matt Hoover will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover with a meal following in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
