Violet B. Oler

Violet B. Oler, 89, a longtime resident of Stonecreek, Ohio, died Sunday morning, October 29, 2006 in the Park Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.

Violet retired in 1984, as an employee of GTE where she worked for twenty five years.

Born September 7, 1917 in Adena, Ohio, the daughter of the late George and Bernice Crain Watkins.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover and its Lois Circle. She also loved participating in numerous activities in the church. She was also a member of the Brandywine Grange and the Pioneer Club at GTE. She enjoyed playing the piano and volunteering at several nursing homes and the county home. In her earlier years, she playing violin in the Philharmonic Orchestra.

Violet was preceded in death by her first husband, William Barker who died in June, 1952 and her second husband, Earl E. Oler who died March 16, 1995.

She is survived by four children, Gerald (Marciana) Barker of Santee, California, Daniel Barker of San Diego, California, Louise (Lloyd) Bleininger of Dover and James (Susan) Barker of Stonecreek; one brother, George Watkins of Dover; fifteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded by one daughter, Marjory Barker Morris, one great great grandson, Francisco Diego Pedro, one sister, Iris Rothermel and a half brother, Frank Crain.

Funeral services celebrating Violet�(TM)s life will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
