Virgie C. Morris, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, from complications of Alzheimer�(TM)s Disease.
Born, Sept. 4, 1918, in Sistersville, WV, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Lucy Eichelberry Fry. Virgie moved with her family at a young age to Richville, OH, and graduated from Washington High School in Massillon. She married Harry B. Morris on Sept. 20, 1943, and moved to Tabor Ridge where Harry owned a dairy farm.
Virgie was a loving homemaker who enjoyed the hard work that went along with the operation of a farm. She was a long-time member of New Cumberland United Methodist Church, was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (husband, Gary) McKain of Mineral City; a son, Glenn R. (wife, Betty) Morris of Dover; seven grandchildren, Greg McKain, Chris (wife, Lynnsi) McKain, Charlene Postlethwait, Arthur (wife, Marty) Moore, Georgia (husband, Jeff) Marshall, Tim Stearns and Richard (wife, Sherry) Morris; eleven great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruthann Hummer of Waynesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry, on Mar. 10, 1992; a daughter, Ruth C. Stearns; two sisters and a brother.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 6 �" 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Max Canfield of the First Church of the Brethren in New Philadelphia officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
