Virgil R. Kieffer

Virgil R. Kieffer, 83, of 4305 Tabor Ridge Rd. N.E., Mineral City, Ohio died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Union Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

Virgil retired in 1978, as a machine operator for Hercules Engines in Canton. He was a former employee of U.S. Ceramic Tile at East Sparta and was a retired farmer.

Born February 8, 1918 in Murray City, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter and Myrtle Griffin Kieffer.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and member of the Mineral City American Legion Post.

He is survived by his wife Esther Holcomb Kieffer with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on Nov. 8.

He is also survived by one daughter Roberta (Robert) Blackson of Mineral City and two sons, Ralph (Viola) Kieffer of Sherrodsville and Willard (Carolyn) Kieffer of Mineral City.

17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and another great grandchild is soon expected.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, 4 brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Dick Harvey officiating. Interment will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
