Virginia A. Stocker

Virginia A. Stocker, 99, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar.

Born August 31, 1907, in New Philadelphia, she was one of seven children of the late Frank L. and Beulah Diefenbacher Arnold. Virginia attended New Philadelphia High School and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. On March 2, 1933, she married James R. Stocker, and the couple made their home in Dover, where Virginia was employed by Godfrey Electric.

In the early 1950�(TM)s, James and Virginia moved to Adrian, Michigan, where Virginia worked for the Beck & Egan Furniture Store. Her beloved James passed away there in Adrian in 1962, and Virginia returned to New
Philadelphia. She was employed by Wilmar Furniture for a number of years before retiring.

Virginia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Philadelphia, where she was an Altar Guide and belonged to the Anderson Sunday School Class and the Women�(TM)s Society for Christian Service. Additionally, she belonged to the Tri-Art Club.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hammell Stone, and five brothers, Franklin, Maxwell, James, Raymond and Robert Arnold.

Virginia is survived by many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Virginia's life will be celebrated in a service Friday, January 12, at 2 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Dr. Steven R. Bailey officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
