Virginia O. Crosier Gardner, 80, of Akron, Ohio and formerly of Tuscarawas and Harrison Counties died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in the Rockynol Retirement Center in Akron following an extended illness.
She was a former employee of Scio Pottery for ten years and had previously assisted her family in the operation of Crosier Brothers Lumber Company in Tippecanoe for many years.
Born July 13, 1924 in West Chester, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kitty A. Truman Starkey.
Virginia was a member of the Eleventh St. Church of God in Uhrichsville, Joy Missionary Circle and loved to play Chinese Checkers and Bingo. She also enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Staley J. Crosier who died in 1983 and her second husband, Sherman O. Gardner who died in 2001.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter
David J. Crosier of Strasburg, Donald R. (Carmen) Crosier of Akron, Daniel Lee Crosier of Strasburg and Diane E. (William) Morris of Columbus; Five grandchildren Joshua and Jason Crosier, Aaron Crosier, Elijah Morris, and Darlene Sparks and a great granddaughter, Rachelle Sparks; one sister, Mary B. (William) Chandler of Dover and a brother, George (Polly) Starkey of Florida along with Sherman Gardner's family.
A funeral service celebrating Virginia�(TM)s life will be held Monday, July 26, 2004 at 10:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Earl Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
