She graduated from Dover High School in 1934 and the James-Kosta School of Cosmetology at Dayton in 1936. Wanting to have her own business, she owned and operated Virginia's Beauty Salon out of her home for the next 32 years.
Virginia was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover and was active with St. Joseph Seniors, Literary Club and the former Christian Mothers Club. She was also a member of the Dover Garden Club, where she served several terms as president, Dover Historical Society, having been a trustee for many years before becoming an Honorary Trustee, the Dover Mother's Club and was a life member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Sorority. Virginia and Sherman enjoyed dancing together and were members of the Swing-A-Lings Modern Western Square Dance Club and the Mary-Lou Round Dance Club. Virginia also enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends, but her greatest passion was gardening. She could spend hours attending to her flowers and yard, working harder than most people half her age.
A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Virginia will be sadly missed by her children, Richard (Jan) Meese of Colorado and Jim (Robin) Meese of Dover; step-daughter, Robin (Alex) Gorichky of Florida; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
