Virginia R. Dickey, 73, of Dover, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born September 30, 1944 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Harold “Lee” and Evelyn Barcus McMurray. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry “Bud” Dickey on April 12, 2005; daughter, Ruth Ann Dickey; brother, Daniel McMurray; and her niece, Carissa McMurray.
Virginia retired from Dover City Schools as a Bus Driver for over 25 years. She was a life member of the New Philadelphia VFW, where she would volunteer her time in the kitchen, and was well known for her bean soup. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and going to their sporting events.
Virginia will be sadly missed by her children, Robin Geers of Dover, Lyle (Dianne) Dickey of Dover, Rhonda (Dave) Redmon of West Virginia; sister, Deb (Kevin) Barrett of Dover; grandchildren, TJ and Nathan (Alex) Geers, Keara, Kaden and Kyler Dickey, Zachary Redmon; great grandchildren, Kendall and Tyson Geers and her nephew, Christopher Whyde of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Richard Rose and Elder Eugene Chadwell officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
