Virginia R. (Preston) Waltz

Virginia R. (Preston) Waltz, 82, of 4592 Hillview Drive, Strasburg, Ohio and a former Dover resident died Monday, August 20, 2001 in the Park Village Health Care Center following a brief illness.

She was a retired employee of the Reeves Steel Company at Dover where she worked for 41 years.

Born August 27, 1918 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Mary Ogi. She was also preceded by her adopted parents, Curtis and Lulu Exline and a brother.

Virginia was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover and its alter guild and Dr. Mary Bair Circle. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and member of the Tuscarawas Order of Eastern Star and Three Arts Club. She belonged to the Saturday Night Bunch and two bridge clubs. She was a 1936 graduate of Dover High School where she served as the class treasurer. She attended the Canton Actual Business School.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gomer Preston who died in 1968 and her second husband, Everett Waltz in 1990.

She is survived by two stepdaughters Patty Preston of Akron and Fran (Robert) Johns of Massillon

Two sisters Helen (Awalt) Steffen and Olga Spear both of St. Joseph, Missouri along with four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 pm.
