W. Harold Snyder

W. Harold Snyder, 79, of Dover, Ohio and a former Akron and Massillon resident died Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Hennis Care Centre following an extended illness.

He retired in 1987, as Vice President of Commercial lines for the Ostrov Insurance Agency in Akron where he worked for 27 years.

Born January 13, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Nellie Guilliams Snyder.

Harold was a member of the Bailey Rd. Christian Church in Cuyahoga Falls and was formerly a Mason affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Coshocton. He was a graduate of West Lafayette High School. His interests included golfing, bowling, woodworking and gardening and loved dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Sandy Snyder with whom he celebrated 25 years of marriage on June 25; He is also survived by three sons, Gregory (Marilyn) Snyder of Dover, Bruce (Amanda) Snyder and Christopher (Marjorie) Snyder all of Akron; stepchildren, Audrey Hafner of Minerva, Sharon Hall of Coshocton, and Patty Mathews of Easton, Pa. three grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Snyder, Madeleine Marie Snyder, and Annika Marie Snyder; a half sister, Annis “Jeanne” Osbun of Hanoverton, Ohio and a half brother, Junior Loos of West Lafayette.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Dean Anderson and a sister, Inez.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6-8 pm.
