W. Robert (Bob) Wright, 81, of Dover, Ohio died Saturday, August 4, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a brief illness.
Bob retired in 1980, as an employee of the Republic Steel Company in Massillon where he worked for over 40 years.
Born July 12, 1920 in Dover, he was the son of the late Charles and Minnie Wright.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover, Life Member of the Dover Elks Lodge, member of the Dover American Legion, Steelworkers Union, and was a US Coast Guard veteran having served during World War II. He formerly enjoyed playing baseball and was known as “Rapid Robert”.
Bob is survived by his wife Myrtle K. Leitch Wright with whom he would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 21.
He is also survived by two daughters Myra (Mike) Petty of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida and Mona (Don) Hayhurst of Uniontown, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 pm with Elks services at 5:45 pm.
