Walter C.'Tut' Swinderman, 85, of Dover, Ohio died Monday, September 15, 2003 at Union Hospital following an extended illness.
He was a retired crane operator for the Timken Company at Canton where he worked for over 30 years. He had previously been employed for the former Valley Farm Supply in Dover.
Born August 22, 1918 in Midvale, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Herron Swinderman.
Walter was a member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover. He served in the 736th Tank Battalion in the US Army during World War II. He was an avid bowler and fisherman and enjoyed the dog races at Wheeling Downs. He loved his boxer dog, Julie.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Espenschied Swinderman with whom he married on May 30, 1941.
He is also survived by his sisters in law Jeanne Swinderman and Erma (Mrs. John) White both of New Philadelphia and Violet Haller of Sebring, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Swinderman and two sisters, Divina Dreher and Martha Roser.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steven Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
