Walter H. "Walt" Emery

Walter H. “Walt” Emery, age 74, of Dover, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Union Hospital, Dover.

Born February 2, 1943, in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Almeda Crabtree Emery. Walt attended Immaculate Conception School, Dennison and Dover High School, and was employed as a truck driver for several area companies.

He attended Renner’s St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Fresno, and was a former member of the Dover Fraternal Order of Eagles. Walt enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, and he was also fond of yardsaling and looking for bargains.

Walt is survived by his loving wife, Betty K. Stein Emery, whom he married on May 10, 1975; his children, Kevin Emery, Tracy (Norman) Penick, Minnie (Ron) Foster and Almeda (Jeremy) Simers, all of Dover; his nine grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his sister, Janice (Roger) Lehman; his brother, James (Linda) Emery; and his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ali Penick; his sister, Frances Zook; and his brothers, Raymond and Harvey “Willie” Emery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, February 5, 5 - 7 p.m. Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held in the Spring.
