Walter “Junior” Schweitzer, 57, of 4091 Main St. (Barnhill), New Philadelphia, Ohio went to be with Lord Thursday, May 27, 2004 in his home following a courageous battle from his illness.
He worked for Larkin Contracting Company in New Philadelphia until illness forced his retirement. He had also previously operated Mac Tools in Tuscarawas County.
Born May 20, 1947 in Dover, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Edythe G. Hickman Schweitzer, Sr.
Junior was formerly involved in the scouting program including Indian Guides, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and was formerly Scout Master for Troop #99 in Dover. He was a 1965 graduate of Dover High School. He was a member of TRA (Tuscarawas Riders Assn.) and loved spending time with his family and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed attending all of his sons�(TM) sporting events. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to help others.
He is survived by two sons Rich (Dee Dee) Schweitzer of Dover and Ron (Misty) Schweitzer of Barnhill; seven grandchildren, Kaylee, Sierra, and Peyton Schweitzer; Jared Yoder, Tawny Miller, Andrew and Kacie Schweitzer. His special companion, Kris Croniser and her children Tifanie and Tyson Croniser; his former wife, of 26 years, Trudy Baker Schweitzer of Dover; Three brothers, David (Holly) Schweitzer of Stonecreek and their son, Johnny; Dennis Schweitzer of New Philadelphia and Terry (Brenda) Schweitzer and their children Tyler and Summer along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 1pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover with Pastor Jim Baker officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A procession of motorcycles and cars will follow the service to a celebration of Junior�(TM)s life at Don Pancho Restaurant in New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm.
