Walter W. White

Walter W. White, 82, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following an extended illness.

Walter owned and operated Walt's Auto in Dover for many years.

Born January 10, 1932 in Dover, he was the son of the late Claude and Dora (Reed) White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma White on April 5, 1995; a stepdaughter, Diane Sayre and three brothers, William, Claude and Richard White.

Walter was a member of the Dover Eagles and Moose lodges and the Bolivar Army Navy Club. After graduating from Dover High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean War. He had a passion for working on automobiles and enjoyed traveling the roads in Tuscarawas County on his motorcycle.

He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 12 years, Ruth (McDonald) Harding White; two sons, Kenny (Kathleen) White of Belpre, OH and Daniel (Catherine) White of Texas; nine stepchildren, Linda (Gary) Sampsel of Dover, Paula (Jim) Metcalf of Stone Creek, Kathy Fishel of Dover, Richard (Patty) Harding of Madisonville, TN, Karan Sue (Larry) Lance of Dover, Tina (Ron) Baker of Carrollton, Ruth Ann (Jim) Blake of Dover, James Lee and companion Rhonda Rosenberry of Dover and Gary Blaine (Loretta) Harding of Madisonville, TN along with six grandchildren, twenty four step grandchildren and thirty seven step great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 from 2-5pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Cremation will follow the visitation and military honors will be held at a later date in the Dover Burial Park.
