Wanda Faye Wallick, 86, of Dundee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 27, 2010 following an extended illness and surrounded by the love of her family members at her side.
Wanda was born on May 9, 1924 in Strasburg to the late Kenneth and Cree Shaffer and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1942.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Wallick, whom she married on July 15, 1942. She is also preceded by two sisters, Fern Carr and Doris Miller and one grandson.
She attended Dundee United Methodist Church where she also played piano and sang in the choir.
A lifelong resident of the Tuscarawas Valley, Wanda was an accomplished musician, pianist, and vocalist. She played the piano and accordion beautifully and brought great pleasure to those whom heard her play and sing.
Wanda was a member of Buckeye Country Music Association, and also was active in the Dennison Canteen during World War II. She assisted Edna Brubaker at Dundee Elementary School for many years playing the piano for Religious Education Classes for the children. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. She was a lifetime homemaker and devoted her life to serving God and providing for her family.
One of the greatest pleasures in Wanda's life was listening to her children play music and sing their family harmony.
She is survived by her children, Larry R. Wallick of Dundee, Linda Tidwell of Louisville, Robert (Cindy) Wallick of Strasburg, Mary Kay Mears of New Philadelphia, and James Wallick of Dundee. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren along with her sister, Shirley (Vernon) Keim of Strasburg and brother, Robert Shaffer of Massillon. She will be sadly missed by her loving dog, CoCo.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul McFadden for his compassionate care during Wanda's illness and special granddaughter, Jacki (Wallick) Thurston, R.N., for her advocacy and loving bedside medical care.
