Wayne H. Burris, 82, of 208 E. 4th St., Dover, Ohio died Monday, April 28, 2003 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a brief illness.
He was manager and photographic consultant for the former Eiler�(TM)s Camera Shop at Dover for over 40 years.
Born August 24, 1920 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fremont Cletus and Alta Minerva Long Burris.
Wayne was a member of the First Christian Church at Dover and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover where he was a former Sunday Schoolteacher. He was a member and Past President of the Dover Lions Club. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and member and former chaplain of the Dover American Legion Post and member of the Dover VFW.
He is survived by his wife M. Joan Palasky Burris with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on August 24.
He is also survived by five children; James Bryan Burris, Thomas Wayne Burris, Kenneth Fremont (Elaine) Burris, Janet Arlene Lindon, and Kevin John (Shelley) Burris all of Dover
Nine grandchildren Michele Hartline, Matthew (Delores) Burris, Jennifer (Dave) Douglass, Brock (Misi) Burris, Bryan (Tammy) Burris, Devan, Kaitlyn, and Zachary Burris and Amanda Lindon along with eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Arlene Deitrick of New Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by two infant grandsons, one sister, Ruth Horn and a brother, Jerry Burris.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 2, 2003 at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Donald Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 pm.
