Wayne Lee Reese, 82, of Dover died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover following various complications.

Wayne retired in 1990 from the Dover City Public Schools as the Principal of South School for many years.

Born October 17, 1929 in Massillon, Ohio, he was the son of the late Vera (Bitticker) and Delmer Burrell.

Wayne was a 1947 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Adminstration from Ohio State University in 1951 and a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Akron in 1974. While at Ohio State, he served in the Air Force ROTC program and was a First Lt. in the Air Force Intelligence during the Korean War. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia where he was a Trustee, Elder, and Deacon. He was a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge #194 Masonic Lodge in Uhrichsville, member and Past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, and Past Commander of the St. Bernard Commandry at Uhrichsville. Wayne was also a devoted volunteer, driver, and former treasurer Mobile Meals at Union Hospital. He will also be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed researching family genealogy and was an avid golfer and fisherman.

He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife Alexandra "Alexis" (Mourouzis) Reese with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on June 5; a son and daughter in law Nicholas "Nick" and Maria Reese of Huntersville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Noah Patrick and Sophia Maria Reese; and his sister Lynn Stallings of Fairlawn, Ohio along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:30am in the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia with Pastor Mark Unrue officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday from 4-7pm with cremation to follow the visitation and inurnment will be held at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Wayne may sign the online guestbook by visiting the "obituaries and flowers" page on the funeral home website at www.tolandherzig.com
