Wayne D. Sobolik, born on October 21, 1949, in Fremont, Nebraska, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center. He was the son of the late Richard Stephen and Arlene E. (Herrmann) Sobolik.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He dedicated several terms to protecting his country before retiring after over 20 years of service. His time in the military shaped not only his character but also the values he carried throughout his life.
Beyond his military service, Wayne was fascinated with trains, planes, and helicopters. His enthusiasm for these machines enriched his life and inspired those around him to share in his excitement. He also enjoyed model cars and was an enthusiastic collector. He enjoyed spending time on his computer. In addition to his mechanical interests, Wayne was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and San Diego Chargers football fan. He was a member of the Barrs Mill Church of God.
Wayne leaves behind his daughters, Erica (Mike) Madril of Windsor, Colorado, and Andrea Sobolik of Greeley, Colorado; his grandson, Mitchell Thomas Madril of Windsor, Colorado; and his former wives, Rebecca Ann Sobolik of Loveland, Colorado, and Deborah Sobolik of Midvale, Ohio.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandson, Koby Stevens, in 2015.
