Wellington C. "Bud" Goudy, 85, a long-time resident of Roswell, died Saturday, Mar. 28, 2009, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare at New Philadelphia.
Born, Nov. 6, 1923, in Dover, he was a son of the late Wellington C. and Sarah Pearl Goudy. Bud attended school in New Philadelphia, and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Second World War. He was employed by Marlite for some thirty-four years before retiring in 1986.
Bud attended both First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia, and Roxford United Methodist Church at Dennison. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with his family. He was fond of dogs, and had several very good canine pals over the course of his life. Bud also liked bowling, and spent many happy hours at Kinser and Boulevard Lanes.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Goudy of New Philadelphia; a son, Ronald D. Crone; a sister, Nancy Collinsworth; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Rhoda Collinsworth Goudy, on Feb. 4 of this year; a sister, Mary L. Stonebrook; and a brother, William J. Goudy.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Apr. 4, at 12 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Pastor Rich VanArsdalen of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Roxford Church Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
