Wilbert J. "Smokey" Brink, 66, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia following a brief illness.
He was a retired employee of Robin Industries in Fredericksburg where he worked for 17 years.
Born June 23, 1948 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Wilbert L. and P. Margaret (Williams) Brink. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Simone and a brother, Clarence Brink.
He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He was an avid fisherman and was a collector of records and antiques.
"Smokey" will be missed by his family including his son, Wilbert "Lee" (Karla) Brink of Dover and daughter, Sherri (Chris) Vogel in New Philadelphia; a stepdaughter, Starr Blackburn in Florida; four brothers and three sisters, James (Loretta) Brink of Moundridge, Kansas, Roxy (Larry) Carr of Midvale, Lucy (Jim) Mowrer of New Philadelphia, Arthur (Debra) Rettig of Atwood, Illinois, Frank (Doris) Humphrey of Hanoverton, Ohio, Harold (Erleen) Hostetler of Massillon and Marianna (Steve) Weisel of Atwater, Ohio along with 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of Wilbert's life will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 beginning at 5pm at the home of his son Lee, 520 W. 15th Street in Dover.
