Willa M. Washington, of Dover, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 84.
Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on May 27, 1940 she was a daughter of the late William and Lovie Smith Poindexter. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alice Puntey, and brother, Ray Poindexter.
Willa retired from JC Penney and was an active member of the Church of Christ in Dover.
Willa is survived by her children, Bridgette Black of Cleveland, Mark (Kimberly) Black, James (Tina) Black, both of California, Parris Washington of Dover, and LaVada Washington of Columbus. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Lampkin of Cleveland and Christine Hodges of Maryland. Willa took great pride in her family, which includes eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Willa's life will be held on Thursday, October 31st starting at 1:00 pm in the Church of Christ in Dover with Joe Snyder officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the church on Thursday from 12 noon until 1:00 pm. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
