William Alan “Bill” Reed, 47, of Strasburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a long illness.
Born Jun. 22, 1958, in Dover, he was a son of the late John W. and Edna Mae Peeper Reed. Bill graduated from Garaway High School in 1977 and went on to pursue training in the culinary arts. He had a longstanding career in food service as a cook and chef. Bill retired from Friday�(TM)s in Canton, his last place of employment, due to illness.
He was a member of the Bread of Life Christian Fellowship, Canton, and was associated with Trillium Family Solutions, also of Canton, and he volunteered for Special Olympics. Bill loved cooking and baking for family and friends and expressed his love in doing so.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Powe Reed, whom he married Jun. 25, 1992; two brothers, Ronald L. Reed, Bill�(TM)s twin, who lovingly cared for him in his illness, of Strasburg, and Thomas (fiancée, Juanita Applegarth) Reed of New Philadelphia; step-mother, Maxine Reed of Tuscarawas; two step-daughters, Demica (Samuel) Roberson and Dauretta (Michael) Johnson, both of Canton; a step-son, William Baity, III, also of Canton; twelve grandchildren; a nephew, Jeffrey E. (fiancée, Angie Robinson) Grove of Dennison; great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Roszanna Faye Reed.
Bill�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Sunday, Jan. 29, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Rev. Rowena C. Blaine officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover.
