William C. “Bill” Daley, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, July 27, 2007, in Country Club Retirement Center, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born, August 28, 1923, in New Philadelphia, Bill was a son of the late Stephen and Viettia Smart Daley. He attended New Philadelphia High School, and, as a young man, worked for the Universal Sewer Pipe Co. in Goshen, and Tinnerella�(TM)s Grocery Store in Dover. Bill was later employed by Joy Manufacturing, and retired after over thirty years of service from the former Naylor Funeral Home at New Philadelphia.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Bill was a hardworking, devoted family man.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Petitti Daley, whom he married April 23, 1949, in St. Joseph Church, Dover; two sons, Michael (wife, Patricia) Daley of New Philadelphia, and Richard Daley at home; three granddaughters, Wendy, Theresa and Michelle Daley; a great-granddaughter, Autumn Daley; and a sister, Jessie May Daley also of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Williams; and by two brothers, Mark and Dewey Daley.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Those planning to attend are instructed to go directly to the church the morning of the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Dover. There will be a meal, the location of which is yet to be decided, and will be announced at the Mass. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia.
