William C. “Bill” Harmon, 85, of Dover, died Saturday, September 1, 2007, in his home.
He was born November 27, 1921 at Dover Twp, the son of the late Walter and Emma Kendal Harmon.
For 42 years, Bill was a loyal and dedicated employee of the former Shenango Company at Dover where he served in many capacities before retiring as Metal Room Foreman.
A proud Army veteran, Bill honorably served our country while stationed overseas during World War II.
He was a life member of the Dover VFW and Eagles clubs. He also enjoyed bowling and was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians. Additionally, he had a passion for woodworking, a craft he was able to pass along to his son.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie Duerr Harmon, whom he wed on April 30, 1955.
Other surviving family members include: his son, Daniel W. Harmon of Dover; three beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Jenna, and Jordan Harmon of Smyrna, DE; a sister, Dorothy Clark of New Philadelphia; and two brothers, Clinton Harmon of Tuscarawas and Charles (Sandy) Harmon of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister Beatrice, brother Clifford, and an infant brother.
Rev. Gary Friend will officiate a service that celebrates Bill�(TM)s life on Tuesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday, one hour prior to services. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in the Dover Burial Park on Wednesday.
