William G. ''Bill'' Vance, 63, of Dover, died Monday, March 4, 2002 in his home.
He was a retired employee of the City of New Philadelphia and had also been employed by New Philadelphia City Schools.
Born February 20, 1939 at New Philadelphia, he was son of the late Oliver C. & Thelma Jean Ervin Vance.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time on Clendenning Lake. He loved spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, and was a big fan of NASCAR as well as the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl L. Milburn Vance, whom he wed on April 8, 1970.
Other survivors include: 3 sons; Leslie Dale & Melissa Lendon of Dover, James D. & Amy Vance of New Philadelphia and William C. & Cheri Vance of New Philadelphia, 8 grandchildren; Leslie Dale Lendon, Jr., Madison R. Lendon, Jamie Klintworth, Angie Oliver, Savanna L. Vance, MacKenzie L. Vance, Clayton D. Thompson and Logan C. Vance, 2 brothers; Larry & Carol Vance of New Philadelphia, Tom & Delma Vance of Dover, 2 sisters; Connie & Bill West of New Philadelphia, Sue & George Troyer of Dover, a dear cousin; ''cous'' Charlene Snyder of New Philadelphia, numerous nieces and nephews and one son and three daughters and several grandchildren from a previous marriage.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother Paul, and a sister Patricia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7, at 1:00pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Steve Court officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9pm.
