William H. Ritenour, 83, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following injuries received in a traffic accident last Tuesday in Dover.
Bill was born February 7, 1925 in Oldtown Valley and was the son of the late William L. "Checker" and Vesta Vasbinder Ritenour.
He was a retired foreman at Eaton Corporation at Massillon where he worked for nearly twenty years.
He was formerly involved in the Indian Guides program. He was also a member of the Dover Moose Lodge. He had many interests including gardening, training horses, and clogging and was a member of the New Town Cloggers. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruth M. Pease Ritenour who he married December 6, 1947. He is also survived by three children, Robyn (Jerry) Page of New Philadelphia, Jeff Ritenour and his fianc Sue Hardesty of Coshocton and Brad (Deborah) Ritenour of Dover; five grandchildren, Johnalee (Troy) Weller, Jerry (Meghann) Page Jr., Nathan, Amanda, and Bradley Ritenour along with six great grandchildren and a sister, Beverly Watkins of Magnolia.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service celebrating Bill's life will be held Wednesday, March 26. 2008 at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Urie Hershberger officiating. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Cremation will follow services and inurnment will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8pm.
