William Hood “Bill” Walter, 93, of Eustis, Florida died there June 6, 2018.
Born August 2, 1924, in Dover, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Beulah Weiss Walter. Bill served honorably in the United States Navy during the Second World War.
He retired in 1985 from the General Electric Co. as a machinist and toolmaker following twenty years of service. Bill was previously employed by the Timken Roller Bearing Co. as an engineer. He was also a dairy farmer.
Bill loved antique cars and was a member of the Model A Ford Club of America. He also belonged to the East Ohio Forestry Association.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Sherian Broda Hammond Walter, whom he married on June 18, 2005; his children, Janet (Frank) Kania of Mississippi, Loren (Joyce) Walter of Dover, and Dale Walter of Florida; his eight grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his brother, Earl Walter of Canton; his sisters, Doris Kimble of Dover, and Lorla Cihon of Kimbolton; as well as his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Walter, on August 14, 2002; and his brother, Dale Walter.
A committal service for Bill’s cremated remains will be held Friday, July 13, at 3 p.m., in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg; Pastor LuAnn Youngman of the Winfield United Methodist Church will officiate. Following the service, there will be a gathering and refreshments in the banquet room of The Manor Restaurant, Strasburg.
