William J. “Bill” Stallings, age 78, of Dover, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in the same home where he was born.
Bill entered this world on February 18, 1939, the son of the late Robert J. and Melva Levengood Stallings. He graduated from Dover High School in 1957, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army. Following his service time, Bill was employed for many years in retail management. He retired from Dover First United Methodist Church – where he a sixty-five-year member.
Bill was a motorhead, and was always in the garage. He was fond of classic automobiles, motorcycles and car shows. He also loved riding motorcycles and belonged to several motorcycle clubs. Bill liked to camp, and the mountains (especially the Blue Ridge) and the beach were favorite destinations.
He is survived by his loving family, which includes his wife of fifty-five years, Cheryle A. (Baumberger) Stallings; his children, Michell (Robert) Calhoun of New Philadelphia, William J. Stallings of Dover, Quinn A. (Lori) Stallings of Gnadenhutten, and Jade (Kyle) Dunn of Dover; his thirteen grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Beverly A. (Ron) Bertle of Dover.
Besides his parents, his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Stallings, preceded Bill in death.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, June 21, at 2 p.m., in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dover; Pastor David St. Aubin will officiate.
