William J. "Bill" Wagner

William J. "Bill" Wagner, 71, of New Philadelphia died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

Born October 9, 1944 in Portsmouth, Ohio he was a son of the late Aaron and Etta Keene Wagner.

Bill retired as an Operations Manager from Verizon in Jackson, Ohio after 28 years of service. He was a member of New Pointe Community Church and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was passionate about reading and living God's word. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 22 years, Lyla Pittenger Wagner; sons, Aaron (Shelley) Wagner of Portsmouth, Christopher (Ashley) Wagner of New Philadelphia; sisters, Donna (Mason) Waddell of Ashland, Kentucky, Sue Schroeder of New Albany; brother, Danny (Carol) Wagner of South Shore, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Zachery, Kaitlynn, Isaac and Nicholas Wagner.

Private graveside services will be held in the Foxfield Preserve at Wilmot. A public memorial service will be held on Monday, September 19 at 2:00 pm in the New Pointe Community Church with Pastor Dwight Mason officiating. Friends can call at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
