William J. Knotts

William J. Knotts, 76, of Dover died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Tuscora Park following a sudden illness.

He retired from McKnight Trucks in New Philadelphia where he was a certified heavy-duty truck technician and a wrecker operator for 29 years.

Born July 7, 1931 in North Canton, Ohio he was a son of the late James and Rose Weiderman Knotts.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover. William enjoyed going to auctions and was an avid coin collector. He was the current President of the Tuscarawas County Coin Club, was a Scout Master of Troop 94 in Dover where he was active for over 20 years and served on the Buckeye Council. He was also an Army veteran.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, William will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Dortha Rainsberg Knotts who he married on August 3, 1952.

He is also survived by three sons, Michael (Robin) Knotts of Green, Greg (Renee) Knotts of Killbuck and Dan (Brenda) Knotts of Chicago; sister, Marilyn (Clarence) Butcher of Florida; eight grandchildren, Heather, Kristina and Lydia Knotts, Chalana and Cilynda Reining, Devin, Jake and Danielle Knotts; mother in law, Clara Rainsberg of Tuscarawas.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Kenard Parrott officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the burial a luncheon will be served in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call in the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
