William J. "Bill" Walkosak, 73, of Dover died Tuesday evening, Feb. 7, 2012 in Union Hospital following congestive heart failure.
Bill was a wellknown area pharmacist and currently was a consultant pharmacist for Omnicare. He was a classmate and friend of Jerry Marlowe at Ohio State University School of Pharmacy. Because of the friendship between the Walkosak and Marlowe families, they chose Dover as their home.
Born June 25, 1938 in Masury, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Albert and Mary (Sevachko) Walkosak. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John A. Walkosak Jr.
Bill was active in civic and community affairs. He served as former President and member of the Dover Board of Education and the Buckeye JVS Board. He was the former secretary/treasurer of the Dover Kiwanis Club, Past President and member of the Rainbow Connection where he also served as statutory agent. He was previously Past President of the Dover Middle School Band Boosters, and was a member of the Fellowship American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (FASCP) During his free time, he could often be found at Union Country Club playing a round of golf with friends and associates that he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover.
Bill was a 1956 graduate of Hubbard High School and a proud graduate and fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Pat (Eby) Walkosak with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this Aug. 25; his son, John (Traci) Walkosak of Lakewood, Ohio and his daughter, Mandy (Ben) Garver of Dover and loved spending precious time with his grandchildren Claire and Thomas Walkosak and Zach Garver. A brother, Robert M. (Kathryn) Walkosak of Murraysville, Pennsylvania; a sister in law, Dona Walkosak of Hubbard along with seven nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
A funeral mass celebrating Bill's life will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park and a reception will follow the mass at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Sunday from 1-3pm and 6-8pm.
