William J. Watkins, 74, of 731 N. Walnut St., Dover died Thursday, October 28, 1999 in Union Hospital.
He had worked for over 32 years with Marr Knapp & Crawfis Architects, where he had served as the company's accountant.
Born May 20, 1925 at New Philadelphia, he was the only child of the late John E. & Verna V. Reneker Watkins.
A 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Bill was Past Exaulted Ruler of New Phila. Elks Lodge #510. He served on the destroyer ship 'Decatur' while serving the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and had also been a member of the American Legion post at Dover. Bill also enjoyed golfing in his leisure time. He and his wife had also been active with the Tusco Traveliers Camping Club.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Price Watkins, whom he wed on March 16, 1974.

Bill was preceded in death by his first two wives; Lois Kinsey Watkins, and Doris Adams Watkins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2, at 11:00am in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home with Elder Glenn Carlisle and Rev. Thomas Scott officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The New Philadelphia Elks will be conducting services at 8:45 on Monday.
