William John Streb, 82, of Dover died Monday, July 07,
2008 in Arbor's of Canton after a long illness.
Born December 27, 1925 in Dover, he was the son of the
late Louis C. and Edna (Greenwell) Streb.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1943 and later married the love of his life, Maxine Heck Streb on June 17, 1950. Together they had three children. He served our country in the Navy from 1944-1946.
William worked as the plant manager for the Robinson Clay Products Company in Midvale and in Akron. He also worked for Griffin Pipe Products and Cypress Mineral that are both located in Georgia.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, where he was a member of the Parish Council and K of C. He was also a member of the Dover Elks and the American Legion. He loved gardening, working in his yard, and golfing.
In addition to his wife, Maxine, he is also survived by his two daughters; Ann Marie (husband, John) Shaw of Gray, Georgia, Jane (husband, Gary) Hatcher of New Market, Maryland; his son, John (wife, Beth) Streb of Athens Georgia; his grandchildren, Whitney and Eric Shaw, Jessica and Chad Hatcher, Ashley (husband, Peter) Lester, and Kristen (husband, Phillip) Gibson; two step grandchildren, Scott Jackson and Kayla Jackson, two great grandchildren, Kamryn Shaw and Katelyn Jackson; his sisters, Susan Rees of Dover, and Ann Rafalowski of Georgia; three brothers, Louis G. Streb of Perrysburg, Ohio, Thomas P. Streb of
Wisconsin, and Edward (wife, Joyce) Streb of New
Philadelphia.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Father William Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dover. Following the service of committal, a meal will be prepared at the church's New Life Center. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A Christian Wake service will take place at 3:45 pm.
