William H. "Bill" Kirkbride

William H. “Bill” Kirkbride, age 64, of Beach City, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family, after battling cancer.

Born November 10, 1958, in Dover, he was a son of the late Harold L. and Gladys M. Trustdorf Kirkbride. Bill graduated from Dover High School in 1977 and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army as a Military Police. He married the former Darlene K. McRobie, who survives, on September 29, 1979. Bill was employed for years by the Belden Brick Company in Sugarcreek, and later by Cable Manufacturing & Assembly Company in Bolivar, until illness no longer allowed him to work.

Foremost, Bill loved his family, particularly his grandchildren, and the precious time spent with them. He was a member of the Bolivar Sportsman’s Club. And, be it hunting, fishing, grilling or just mowing, Bill was happiest outdoors. He also enjoyed football, especially when it involved watching Ohio State.

In addition to his wife, Darlene, Bill will be dearly missed by his children, William H. (Jennifer) Kirkbride II of Beach City, and Carrie (Matthew) Casey of East Canton; his grandchildren, Kylee, Jacob, Rylan and Matthew; his brothers and sisters, Jeff Kirkbride and Ann Kirkbride, both of Dover, and Linda McRobie and Mark Kirkbride, both of Strasburg; and his nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Eric Kirkbride, and his sister-in-law,  Beverly Kirkbride.

Honoring Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, at 12 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 140 S. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg; Pastor Jason Rissler of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg will officiate. Military rites will be conducted. Following the services, there will be a lunch in the Brewster Moose Lodge, 149 Wabash Ave. S., Brewster. Family and friends are invited to call at the Strasburg funeral home on Saturday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
