William L. Stevens, 84, formerly of Canton, died Friday, February 29, 2008 in his son's residence in Greenville, Ohio.
Born October 5, 1923, in Dover, he was the son of the late Herbert and Inez (Ley) Stevens.
After 19 years, William retired from Aultman Hospital, in Canton, where he was a purchasing director. He was a life member of the Dover Elks and a former member of the First Moravian Church in Dover. He loved to golf.
He honorably served our country in the Army during WWII.
William's survivors include: his son; William L. Stevens II, his daughter; Linda (husband, Dan) Pike of Daytona beach, Florida, as well as four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by: his grandson; Travis Stevens, great grandson; Austen Brinley; and his sister, Ellen Holmes.
A celebration of William's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park were the Dover VFW will conduct a military graveside service. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
