William Leroy "Hoppy" Hopkins

William Leroy “Hoppy” Hopkins, 65, of New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at his home.

Hoppy was born on September 24, 1956, in Coshocton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Wilburn and Hazel (Bradford) Hopkins.

He attended Garaway High School and worked with several roofing companies throughout the community. He also did roofing on his own.

Hoppy enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, and fishing. He also loved playing the guitar and drawing. He was an avid football fan and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He leaves behind his two children; Jenny Rebecca “Becky” (Richard) Kautchick of Inverness, Florida and formerly of New Philadelphia, Terry Hopkins of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Riley and Alexis Hopkins; his siblings, Donald (Olive) Hopkins of Coshocton, Bonnie (Doug) Jones of Corning, Ohio, Brenda (Jeff) Mehok of New Philadelphia, Cheryl Geltz of Strasburg, Robert (Karen) Hopkins of New Philadelphia, David Hopkins of New Philadelphia; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Hoppy is preceded in death by his brothers, Terry and James Hopkins.
