William M. "Bill" Criss

William M. “Bill” Criss, age 60, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 7, 2021, in his home.

Born March 24, 1960, in Martins Ferry, he was a son of Magdalene (husband, Douglas) Pollack Criss Woods of Dillonvale, and the late Carl Criss. Bill graduated from Bridgeport High School, and then went on to serve honorably with the United States Navy for nearly twelve years. Following his discharge, Bill was employed by several manufacturing companies. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Bill was a member of the Tuscarawas post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his mother and step-father, Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Stephens Dowdle Criss, whom he married on August 27, 1996; his step-children, Carla Dowdle, Shannon (husband, Kirk) Norris, Betty (husband, Butchie) Markovich and Darlene Williams; his step-daughter-in-law, Samantha Dowdle; his sister, Kimberly Criss; his step-sister, Sonia (husband, Wesley) Becker; his many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, Bill was preceded in death by his step-son, John Dowdle; and his step-sister, Stephanie Leadley.
