Willis C. "Bill" Burton passed peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2011 in the Park Village Health Care Center.
Born November 11, 1924 in New Philadelphia he was the youngest of three sons born to the late Fredrick and Mary Kimball Burton. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Helen Sue Burton on November 11, 2001 as well as by his two brothers, Fred Jr. and Edward.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was sent to Europe along with his two brothers. After the war he attended the University of Cincinnati for two years and finally graduated from Cleveland State University. He then worked for 35 years for the Warner and Swasey Company in Cleveland and New Philadelphia as a sales/service manager. His work took him all over the U.S., Europe and South America.
In his spare time he enjoyed traveling with his family, fishing, golf, woodworking, wire sculpture and gardening. He always did have the first tomatoes. Additionally, he was a long-standing member of the Dover Elks.
Bill is survived by his children, Thomas (Ruth) Burton of Dover, Alison Burton of Englewood, Colorado and eight grandchildren.
Per Bill's wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There will be no calling hours or services.
