Wilma L. Jentes

October 10, 1921 — February 14, 2007

Wilma L. Jentes, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in Doctors Hospital at Massillon. Fittingly, her passing on Valentine(TM)s Day also marked what would have been her late husband Delmer(TM)s 86th birthday. The couple had been married for 53 years.

She was born October 10, 1921, at May(TM)s Valley, New Philadelphia, one of twelve children of the late John & Clara Mutti May.

Wilma was a woman of faith and member of the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church.

Occasionally, she took part in activities with the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, but was most appreciative of the center(TM)s transportation service. She had never learned to drive, so the center(TM)s van allowed her to remain active and independent in the years following her husband(TM)s death.

Her passions for cooking, baking and sewing were best lived out when she was able to share the products of those labors of love with the people closest to her.

She also enjoyed traveling. She and Delmer took pride in having visited each of the 48 contiguous states over the years.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Delmer, who died March 17, 1996, Wilma was preceded in death by two sons, Delmer, Jr., and Jack, and her eleven siblings.

Surviving are a loving daughter, Donna Jean Jentes of Louisville, Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated in a public memorial service on Monday, February 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church in New Philadelphia with Pastor Sue Koenig officiating. Friends may call in the church on Monday from 1-3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to either: Schoenbrunn Moravian Church, 2200 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, or to the Tuscarawas Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover.

Arrangements are being handled through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory, New Philadelphia.
