Wilma R. McGraw, 78, of Dover, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 14, 1925, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Warren and Melva Jane Burgess Border. Wilma graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1942, and went on to graduate from both secretarial school and art school. She served as secretary to an Army Air Corps general during World War II, at which time she met her husband, Arthur Patrick McGraw. The couple were married on Dec. 5, 1945, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Wilma worked as an artist tinting photographs for the former Harmon�(TM)s Photography Studio, Dover, and Stropky�(TM)s at New Philadelphia. She also painted many landscapes, some of which still adorn the walls of her home. Additionally she taught crafts and leatherworking to local Cub Scout groups.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover, and was active with the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens group.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia R. McIntosh of Dover; three sons, Arthur W. (Caroline) McGraw of Whitehall, Daniel M. McGraw of Dover, and Timothy D. (Lynn) McGraw of Bolivar; seven grandchildren, Daniel M. (Amy) McGraw, II of Bolivar, Tammy (Bill) Frame of Dover, Matthew and Joshua McGraw of Bolivar, Debbie and Carol McGraw of Whitehall, and Eddie (Jescha) McIntosh of Vandenburg AFB, CA; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce (Barbara) Border of New Philadelphia, sister-in-law, Ada Border of Dover; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on Mar. 5, 1971; a grandson, Phillip Andrew McGraw; an infant sister, Doris Border; a brother, Kenneth Border; and her faithful companions, Lucky, Kofi, Doc and Mismatch.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, 3-6 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover.
