Yolanda J. Jones

Yolanda J. Jones, 86, went to be with the Heavenly Father on Friday, September 21, 2012, while residing at Dixon Health Care Center in Wintersville, Ohio. She was a former resident of Jaycee Village Apartments in Uhrichsville, Ohio.

Yolanda Jane McBride Jones was born in Wheeling, WV on November 10, 1925, the daughter of John and Verna McBride. Yolanda was the sixth of eight children, with three sisters and four brothers. Her youngest brother, Vernon survives and lives in New Jersey.

Her father moved the family to New Jersey and became the manager of Woolworth's Store in Dover. Yolanda graduated from Dover High School. After a lengthy illness with tuberculosis, Yolanda attended and graduated from the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY, where she met Irving T. Jones. The couple was married on September 6, 1952.

Irving and Yolanda pastored various churches in Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania. They eventually settled in Gerry, NY. While Irving worked jobs in maintenance, Yolanda was a homemaker and took in foster children. She later worked as an insurance secretary.

The couple moved to Wilmore, KY in 1980, where Irving worked for the Methodist Church and Yolanda babysat children. Irving passed away on March 24, 1985. Yolanda moved to Uhrichsville, Ohio in 1993.

Yolanda is survived by her three children; Brenda (John) McCloud of Minden, NV, Suzanne Jones of Winder, GA, and Wes (Cher) Jones of Steubenville; a daughter in-law, Sherry Jones of Winesburg, Oh; four grandchildren, Jessica Grant, Martin McCloud, Shane Beck, Travis Beck; and three great-grandsons, Austin, Colby, and AJ.
