Zane F. Spangler, 73, of 2320 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, Ohio died Thursday, November 4, 1999 at the Mercy Medical Center in Canton following a brief illness.
Zane owned and operated the former Zane’s Market at Dover for 35 years.
Born June 2, 1926 in West Lebanon, Ohio, he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha McFarren Spangler.
He was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover where he formerly served on the church council. He was also a Life Member of the Dover Elks Lodge. He was a graduate of Paint Twp. High School in Mt. Eaton and the Wooster Business College. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. Zane was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Eby Spangler with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on October 29.
He is also survived by one son Rod (Flo) Spangler of Dover
Three daughters Julie (Keith) Stoneman of Dover, Mari (Chris) Zurcher of New Philadelphia and JoAnn (Mark) Lorenz of Dover
13 grandchildren Kim, Kara, Katie, and Kellie Spangler, Keith, Zane, and Luke Stoneman, Maggie & Nate Mushrush, Arthur Zurcher, Rikki and Molly Cerett, and Rian Lorenz.
Three great grandchildren Kayla, Hannah, and Emily Stoneman
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
