Zelphia Harris, 82, of Dover died at Shoenbrunn Healthcare Center on December 19, 2009 following an extended illness.
Born on July 27, 1927, in Baltic, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence Huprich Krebs. She graduated from Sugarcreek High School. She married the love of her life, the late George Harris Jr., on November 9, 1947. He preceded her in death in April of 2001. She worked for the former Joy Manufacturing, for over 17 years. She was a member of the former Indian Meadows Church of God.
Zelphia loved bringing beauty and comfort into people's lives, from making quilts by hand, to planting roses and flowers, to cooking meals from scratch. She enjoyed her quilting circle at the senior center and putting together puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, with whom she shared the wisdom she wrought in her life. Christmas was her favorite time of year, when the days would be filled with decorating, cookie-baking and candy-making. No Christmas would be complete until the family was together, breaking bread and enjoying the nourishment lovingly created by her hands.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters; Linda (Husband, Richard) Harris-Comstock of Centerburg, Ohio, Sandra (husband, Donald) Hothem of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Daniel Ray (wife, Kacey) Hothem of Columbus and Amanda Erin Comstock of Dover; a great grandson, Raymond Carter Hothem of Columbus; her sister, Ruby Senhauser of Sarasota, Florida; and her brother, Robert Krebs of Ragersville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by; two brothers, Walter Krebs Jr., Lewis Krebs, and her sister, Betty Krebs.
A celebration of Zelphia's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Louise Worsham officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00-1:00 pm.
